This module on Fire Alarm Installation Techniques is designed to give you a basic overview of the methods and procedures you must follow to properly install an Automatic Fire Alarm System.
We will look at some of the key Codes and Standards which are applicable to installing and testing a Fire Alarm System, including an overview on Code requirements for placement and mounting of notification and detection devices.
After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:
- Describe the general rules and Code requirements for the installation of an Automatic Fire Alarm System.

Understand how room configuration and air flow affect the placement of fire detection devices.
- Select the proper locations for smoke detectors based on ceiling type and shape.

Follow regulations for placement of visual and audible notification devices.
